| Seminars / Events Sept. / Oct. 2007 The Patriot Group is organizing training sessions with San Juan, Puerto Rico's Office of Emergency Management (PROEM) in small boat marine firefighting and advising in Zodiac boat purchase. Aug. / Sept. 2007 The Patriot Group's Counseling Service Unit (CSU) is presently organizing a visit to Biloxi, MS and Charleston, SC to assist the brother firefighters in dealing with their catastrophic disaster. June, 2007 The Patriot Group's Captain Fuentes presented the winners of the Patriot Group's 343 scholarship to two Townsend Harris High School Students who embodied a commitment to humanity and community service. April 21, 2007 The Patriot Group held its 2nd 343 Remembrance Walk partnered with Townsend Harris High School, Queens, NY. 9/11 families and over 300 THHS students participated in the walk. This walk is instrumental in raising funds for the PG's many missions. March 6, 2007 The Patriot Group's Captain Fuentes and two PG sponsored members from the FDNY Counseling Service Unit (CSC) traveled to assist the New Orleans area firefighters in dealing with the after effects of Hurricane Katrina. Many of the New Orleans area firefighters related to Captain Fuentes' 9/11 personal recovery, and hence his story assisted in their ongoing recovery. NOTE: Because of the positive results of this effort, the Patriot Group Organization has integrated a Counseling Service Unit lead by career FDNY counselors in their mission to assist firefighters. January, 2007 Captain Fuentes was an invited speaker for THHS students regarding personally rewarding life paths after graduation. October, 2006 Captain Fuentes was the keynote speaker at the Knights of Columbus Council 3707, Woodside, NY. June, 2006 The Patriot Group's Captain Fuentes and Lt. Reilly presented the winner of the Patriot Group 343 scholarship to Townsend Harris High School Student. May, 2006 The Patriot Group instructors/volunteers will travel to the City of Memphis, TN to work in a three day seminar/training program. This seminar will address Marine firefighting on the Mississippi River in conjunction with the previous fireboat donated by the City of New York through the efforts of the Patriot Group. March, 2006 The Patriot Group was instrumental in the process of having the FDNY Marine Division donate a 23-foot Steiger Craft boat to the City of Memphis to be used as a fast rescue craft with limited fire extinguishing capabilities in the Mississippi River. Arrangements are being made for Patriot Group members and identified instructors in Marine Firefighting to conduct a 3-day Marine firefighting training session in the Mississippi River, Memphis. The training mentioned above is being done through the efforts of The Patriot Group. Donations for this cause are welcome. Please click below to view a picture of the fireboat being donated. Fireboat Photo October 22, 2005 In collaboration with the brilliant students of Townsend Harris High School, The Patriot Group had its first 5k 9/11 Memorial Walk. Three hundred students, victim's families, and other supporters all came together at Kissena Park for this incredible event. Each walker had a lanyard of the name and picture of one of the 343 firefighters who perished on 9/11 as they walked. Prior to the event, the walkers did research on their specific firefighter's heroic life. In a "Reflections" book they wrote about what they learned about these men. Thank you to all the students for your tremendous hard work and dedication to keeping our heroes spirits alive. Your commitment to humanity is evident in the work you have accomplished. Sept. 16th, 2005 The Patriot Group spoke in Lancaster, Penn at a community service dinner to thank first responders. Sept. 23rd, 2005 Patriot Group members conducted a seminar for the Memphis Area Homebuilders Association & Board of Realtors Fundraising Event at the Fire Museum of Memphis, 910 Fire Station #1, Downtown Memphis. June 30th, 2005 The Patriot Group’s Capt. Fuentes and Lt. Reilly testified before Congress in Washington, DC on behalf of the victim’s families from 9/11 regarding radio failures on September 11th, 2001. June 13th, 2005 The Patriot Group’s Lt. Reilly and Capt. Fuentes spoke at Townsend Harris High School regarding leadership, patriotism, and the events of 9/11. American By Choice by Al Fuentes is now a required reading for 11th grade students at Townsend Harris High School. Nov. 2004 The Patriot Group’s Lt. Reilly, BC Brian O’Flaherty and Capt. Fuentes presented a seminar in Cavan, Ireland regarding the rescue efforts on 9/11. All donations for the seminar were donated to the Cavan Children’s Burn Center. Sept. 17th-19th, 2004 The Patriot Group’s Capt. Fuentes was the keynote speaker at the Knights of Columbus College Knights Weekend in New Haven, Connecticut. Al Fuentes spoke to motivate college knights to move towards leadership and community service throughout the world.
